The New Beverly Hills Diet - What Is That?
If you are looking for a diet program that will not only help you lose some pounds but will also teach you some disciplines when in terms of proper eating habits and food selections, then the New Beverly Hills Diet is for you.
So far, the New Beverly Hills Diet is just one of the few diet programs that emphasizes the need to learn “conscious combining” or in other words eating the proper foods at the proper time.
Originally, the diet program has a very constraining 42-day initiation phase. But, later on, instead of having a constraining initiation phase, it then just focused on meeting the recommended standards for a balanced weekly diet.
Recommendations, Limitations and Restrictions
Particularly in the New Beverly Hills Diet, fruit stands alone, but proteins typically go with proteins at times with fats and carbohydrates go with carbohydrates at times together with fats.
During the starting period, you will be advised to have a dozen enzymatic fruits like strawberries, grapes, watermelon or pineapple. The New Beverly Hills Diet was effective for some dieters because of its approach towards “conscious combining”.
For Judy Mazel, when you don’t take too many foods from the various food groups (fats, carbohydrates, and proteins), you will achieve a more balanced level of enzyme therefore there’s lesser possibility of a weight gain.

According to Mazel:
- Fruits are essentially self-digesting and their enzymes start converting them into nutrients in just a matter of 15-20 minutes.

Sustaining the diet, however, would be a concern because of a lack of nutritional adequacy”.
Similarly, he has cited that “the reason people lose weight on (Mazel’s) program is that overall, they are eating less calories, not due to the effects of food combining”.
Why the New Beverly Hills Diet
The New Beverly Hills Diet seems very effective at first instance. With Mazel’s writing style which is totally inviting, even you might think twice to say no to it.
However, like most diet programs, it has also some flaws that you need to consider. The theories about exercise being unrelated to weight loss, calories being not that significant, and food combining being the best way to lose weight – all these you have to ponder on seriously.
Likewise, there’s still no scientific evidences or clinical studies to substantiate these claims by Mazel, so be very careful.
